TEMPLETON, Ed.
Pictures.
(Huntington Beach): [self-published], [c.1995].

8vo (216 × 139 mm), pp.[16]. 19 black-and-white photographs (inc. covers), text, and 5 drawings. Black-and-white photo-illustrated saddle-stapled wrappers. Fine.

First edition of this early xeroxed zine. Ed Templeton is a former pro-skater who started painting and taking photographs whilst touring on the international skateboard circuit. He turned pro in 1990 and in 1993 started Toy Machine, a skateboard company with associated team which he still runs. In around 1995 he started taking photographs with a more serious intent, largely influenced by the many skate photographers he met whilst on tour, and in particular by Tobin Yelland who encouraged him to use his position and access to photograph skate culture from within. Throughout his career Templeton has made zines which feature his drawings and photographs. He has photographed extensively in Huntington Beach close to wear he grew up, and where he now lives with his wife Deanna who is also a photographer, their relationship is one of the most consistent subjects in his work.
