[TELLER, Juergen].
Three promotional flip books for Jigsaw Menswear’s Autumn Winter 97-98 collections.
[London]: (Jigsaw), (1997).

3 vols. 12 mo (55 × 100 mm), each pp.[48]. Colour screenshots of black-and-white video. Black-and-white photo-illustrated wrappers, printed black, text in white and red, side-stapled; minor wear to edges, one volume has notes written in ink on the verso of the front wrapper, another has a vertical crease to the rear wrapper and final leaf. Overall an excellent set.

These flip books were issued to publicise Jigsaw Menswear’s Autumn Winter 1997-98 collections. The first shows a man leaping off of the roof of a building, the second shows a man coming off his bike, and the third shows a man falling down a flight of steps. The video footage from which they were made was shown on a loop in Jigsaw’s retail stores, the accompanying print advertisements were also shot by Juergen Teller using professional stuntmen instead of models. This campaign has become emblematic of a moment in late twentieth-century fashion photography which echoed the dark streak present in the 1970s work of Guy Bourdin, Helmut Newton, and Chris von Wangenheim.
