Gelatin silver photograph (Paper: 202 × 255 mm / 8 × 10 in. Image: 156 × 239 mm / 6.1 × 9.4 in). Light handling marks. Tape shadow marks on verso, one showing through lightly on recto. Contemporary page number in red pencil and signed and titled by Takanashi in pencil on verso. Offered unframed.
A vintage print of this image, from the set used to make the plates from which the book Toshi-e [Towards the City. Tokyo: Self-published, 1974] was printed. Yutaka Takanashi was one of the founder members of the Provoke group together with Takuma Nakahira, Koji Taki, and Takahiko Okada, Daido Moriyama joined them after the publication of Provoke no. 1.
This print was given by Takanashi to his assistant at the time Toshi-e was produced. In 2009 on being shown this print he signed it in pencil on the verso and annotated it with the name of the series from which it is taken.
