Oblong 8vo (182 × 256 mm), pp.106 (including 1 gatefold). Black-and-white and colour photographs. Texts by Koichi Edagowa and Osamu Ueno. Design by Hitoshi Suzuki and Takashi Minoura. White flexible covers printed in silver; tips lightly bumped. Colour pictorial dust-jacket, titles in black and stamped in silver. One of Suzuki’s postcards laid in. Signed by Suzuki in black ink to rear free endpaper. Fine.
First edition, signed. S Street Shuffle is Suzuki’s fourth book, the English title is taken from the Bruce Springsteen song ‘E Street Shuffle’, while the Japanese is a pun on phrase used in a television commercial for a Nissan sports car. The photographs were taken between 1982 and 1987 as Suzuki travelled to Yokohoma, Kawasaki, Okinawa, Tokyo, Shanghai, Pusan, and Osaka.
