First edition, a presentation copy inscribed: ‘For [---] / after our gentle / and friendly visit / with affection, / Gene / July 3, 2009’. The Blue Room is Richards’ first book of colour photographs, in it he meditates of the fragility of life and the transient nature of the things we surround ourselves with. For over three and a half years he travelled thousands of miles through the backroads of rural America taking photographs of abandoned houses.
