ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS ON DOCUMENT PAPER

PŘIBYL, Martin.
Hlubočepy.
[N.p]: [Privately printed], 1985.

8vo (205 × 144 mm), pp.[ii], title-page and 34 original gelatin silver photographs printed on Foma document paper, [2]. Plain endpapers. Black cloth-covered boards, black thread page marker. Pribyl's inscription dated 25/11/88 in blue ink to first page. Binding rubbed and marked, the photographs are fine.

Either unique or one of a very small number of privately printed copies made with original photographs on Foma document paper, a thin single-weight Czech photographic paper that is no longer produced. Hlubočepy is a small district in the suburbs of Prague which borders the Prokopské Údolí National Park. Přibyl’s photographs focus on details at the edge of the city, at the borders of the natural and man-made world: trees, paths, railway tracks and the viaduct, graffiti, and glimpses of industry and domestic life over walls and hedgerows. From the same year as John Gossage's The Pond, a number of these photographs are evocative of his work.
