PRISMATIC GYRATIONS

(DRAG QUEENS).
Finocchio's.
(Hollywood: Amusement Concessions), [c.1947].

4to (278 × 216 mm), pp.[12]. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs throughout. Illustrated saddle-stapled wrappers; light marking around rusted staples, area of abrasion to first page from sticker removal, rubbing to spine with short splits to head and foot, light wear to edges. A bright and crisp example.

An original promotional programme for Finocchios. Joe Finoccio opened his celebrated bar in June 1936 and it remained open for 63 years until the doors closed in November 1999, just under 14 years after Joe himself passed away. 'The most interesting women are not women at all... At Finocchio's you will see Woman - that miracle of contradictions - in all her prismatic gyrations.' The cover illustration is by Li-Kar, who is photographed and profiled together with the following performers: Walter Hart, Nicki Gollucci, Frank Doran, Niles Marsh, Johnny Magnum, Del LeRoy, Freddie Renault, Bobbie Janson, Milton La Maire, Gene Lamarr, Harvey Lee, and Jerry Vaughn.
