First edition of one of Araki’s best-known books, photographed in and around the sex clubs of the Kabuki-cho area of Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, an area which holds a central position in post-war Japanese counter-culture. Araki’s images captured the full blooming of this industry just before its curtailment by the New Amusement Business Control Act which came into force on 13 February 1985.
