× 10.7 in). Light wear to edges, handling marks to right and bottom edge, corners and right edge creased, light silver-mirroring to edges. Light stain to verso. Signed by Carmi in black ink with three copyright and address stamps to verso. Offered unframed.
Lisetta Carmi was born in Genoa in 1924. On New Year’s Eve in 1965 she met and photographed a group of transvestites who were living and working on the Via de Campo in Genoa. For the following 6 or so years she photographed them regularly and in 1972 a selection were included in I Travestiti by Essedi Editrice in Rome, this photograph was not published. It was previously acquired directly from Lisetta Carmi.
