First edition of 500. Preston is My Paris is a photographic publishing and event platform established by Adam Murray and Robert Parkinson in 2009.

Preston Bus Station is a Brutalist architectural landmark built between 1968 and 1969. ‘I guess one of the big things with Preston is the bus station’, comments Murray. ‘It tended to be that attention was focused more on the building than the people who used it. We just wanted to produce something that focused more on the people that could be given away for free around the bus station. So that’s why we did a newspaper; me and Robert and Jamie Hawksworth. We got an old, disused National Express ticket office and used that for I think, two weeks, like a base, like an office or a studio type-thing. And just spent time in there, getting to know the place. And we spent three days over a weekend constantly in there, just photographing it all.’

Some copies were available to order and through booksellers but a large number of the copies were given away at the bus station to the public and to security guards to pass on to the bus drivers.

This publication was realised with Jamie Hawkesworth, a recently graduated former student of Murray’s .Hawkesworth had originally studied forensics at the University of Central Lancashire, but after his first year he switched to the photography course which where he was taught by Murray. Since graduating he has established himself as one of the most sought after fashion photographers of his generation, shooting campaigns for Alexander McQueen, J. W. Anderson, Loewe, Miu Miu, and Tiffany & Co.
