EHLING, Thekla.
Sommerherz [Summer Heart].
[Cologne]: [Self-published] (in association with Schaden), (2007).

4to (285 × 202 mm), pp.[58] (on double leaves). Black-and-white and colour photographs printed digitally. Plain endpapers. Green cloth-covered boards, front lettered in grey. Colour photo-illustrated dust-jacket, printed in green, text in black. Signed and numbered by Ehling on colophon. Fine.

True first edition of 150 copies. Sommerherz is Ehling’s sensitive portrait of childhood and family life, for which she photographed her own children and their friends over a couple of years. Her subjects are often caught during moments of isolation and introspection, and the whole book is shot through with a slight sense of melancholy, reflecting inevitably on the passing of childhood. A trade edition was published by Kehrer the following year.

Only 1 copy of this, the true first edition, in OCLC: Hochschule fur Angewandte Wissenschaften.
