4to (256 × 180 mm), pp.[144]. 181 black-and-white and 16 colour photographs. Printed perfect bound wrappers. Signed ‘Arakid’ in black ink to one side of the cover, with a self-portrait drawing to the other. Fine.

First edition, signed and with an original self-portrait drawing. This book was published to coincide with an exhibition at La Forêt Museum, Harajuku in August 1995. It contains two sets of pictures of children who are either alone, with both parents, or just their fathers, taken on Children’s Day which is celebrated in Japan and across Asia. The first set of photographs are in black-and-white and were taken on May 5th 1968, the second set divides the first in two and are in colour, taken on May 5th 1995 at the Kodomo-no-kuni leisure park in Yokohama.
